Omar Ramsden Silver Mazer, 1936
Sold
Mazer - Wooden Mounted - London 1936 by Omar Ramsden - 8.4cm diameter; 5.5cm high; 134g gross weight - SE/7309a
Inspired by the medieval, Omar Ramsden made a speciality of creating fabulous silver mounted wooden mazers in a range of sizes and this is a fine example from late in his career.
The wooden bowl has a lovely grain and patina and is mounted to the top rim and foot with cleverly made silver mounts. It just exudes high quality and has a lovely feeling in the hand.
The underside of the foot is engraved with "Omar Ramsden Me Fecit" (Omar Ramsden made me) and there is a set of London hallmarks to both sections of silver. Excellent condition throughout with no shrinkage cracks to the wood.
We have a further same-sized example in stock to make up a pair if required and a larger example is also available via the link below.
