Caddy Spoon - Oak Leaf - Birmingham 1825 by Clark & Smith - 7.2cm long; 7.7g - NJ/1262

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare form of silver caddy spoon, by a little-known Birmingham partnership and with a first class proveance.

This George IV period caddy spoon is die-stamped in the form of an oak leaf with an oval cartouche to the handle that is engraved with an original "F" initial in script. The bowl is stamped with the hallmarks spread out around the leaf and included the rarely encountered "C&S" maker's mark of John Edward Clark and Edward Smith whose partnership appears to have been short-lived during 1825.

This spoon was originally part of the John Norie collection and is illustrated as plate 63a in "Caddy Spoons: An Illustrated Guide". An excellent caddy spoon in fine condition.
