Sugar Nips - "Chinaman" - London 1889 by Francis Higgins - 8cm long, 31 grams - GH/5626
These are a delightful pair of Victorian silver sugar nips or tongs made by the talented Francis Higgins.
They are in the form of an exaggerated Chinaman with extra long arms and short legs; the legs being sprung and the hands forming the grips for holding sugar lumps. The detailing is exquisite with the reverse side showing a long ponytail and the smiling face having one red eye and one green eye.
These novelty sugar nips are in fine condition with the spring in good, working order.
