Large Paul Storr Silver Salt Cellar, 1826
£580.00
Salt Pot - Cauldron with Gadroon Mount; 3 legs - London 1826 by Paul Storr - 8cm diameter; 4.5cm high; 138g - NV/6367
This Georgian silver salt cellar takes the standard cauldron form however as this piece was made by Paul Storr, there are the typical high quality enhancements you might expect.
Firstly, this is a good-sized hefty piece and much bigger than other typical examples - it could have plenty other purposes beyond use with salt. It stands on three beautifully modelled foliate feet and has a bold gadroon mount to the rim. The gold wash interior protects the silver from the salt and the hallmarks, including the desirable "PS" maker's mark, are clearly stamped to the base.
This is a fine quality piece of George IV period silver in superb condition.
