Cream Jug - Chased Tripod Pitcher-style - London 1834 by Paul Storr - 15.5cm high; 13cm wide; 328g - TN/7520

As one might expect, this is a fabulous quality silver cream or milk jug made by the highly acclaimed English silversmith, Paul Storr.

As can be seen from the photo of the jug adjacent to the drinks can, this is a large example with a plentiful volume. It weighs in excess of 10 troy ounces and has the feeling of high quality typical of the greatest English silversmith of the 19th century. The pear-shaped body is beautifully chased with flower tendrils between swirling flutes and it stands on three attractively decorated legs with shell bases.

The engraved double crest to the cartouche exemplifies the rich heritage and both crests are surmounted by a motto, the first reads:"Melius est Dare Quam Accipere" (It is Better to Give than to Receive) and the second: "Celer et Audax" (Swift and Bold).

This large, pitcher-style jug remains in fine condition throughout with crisp London hallmarks to the underside, including an excellent stamping of the iconic "PS" maker's mark.
