This fantastic quality Georgian silver tray was made by the premier silversmith William Bennett who was a specialist in making trays and salvers in the first two decades of the 1800's.
This large, oval tray measures an impressive 72cm long and has all over foliate scroll chased decoration with the central cartouche engraved with an original coat of arms complete with mantling and motto ("Decus Atque Decens"). The quality of the tray is heightened by the bold gadroon mount around the edge and continued around the two handles.
Weighing 112 troy ounces, this large Regency silver tea tray has a good satisfying feel and is in excellent condition.
