Asparagus Tongs - King's pattern - London 1829 by William Eaton - 26cm long; 5.5cm wide; 230g - WK/8014
These are a fabulous pair of Georgian silver serving tongs. The King's Pattern decoration is super crisp to both arms with the added bonus of an engraved crest to the outside of the bow. The blades are finely pierced and one blade has a raised lip to the end to prevent slippage whilst serving. Made by the premier silver flatware maker William Eaton, these tongs have a restraining bar to the centre to prevent over stretching.
The condition is superb and with a weight of over 7 troy ounces, the quality is top class too. Originally intended for use with asparagus, these tongs in practice could be used for a variety of serving purposes.
