The Service

We are pleased to be offering a straight silver service in Kings Pattern with 8 place settings and each setting having 8 pieces, with the bonus of 4 additional serving pieces.

All the pieces were made in Sheffield 1991 and bear appropriate hallmarks. This is a top quality service w2ith each piece havinbg a good hefty feel in the hand adding to the heavier than typical overall weight. The pieces are all in excellent condition and benefit from having no personalised engravings and none have been removed.

King's Pattern

King's Pattern is the most well-known and popular of the decorative flatware patterns. It was based on an 18th century French design and became fashionable amongst the wealthy in the early years of the 19th Century. The design encompasses a shell to both sides of the handle terminal and reverse of the bowl, scrolls down the handle shaft with a honeysuckle motif to the centre. The double-struck nature of the pattern (i.e. pattern on both sides) ensures that a good gauge of silver was used in manufacture.

Components

This 68-piece service consists of the following:

Total weight of weighable silver  33060 grams (119.6 troy ounces). Additional to this weight are the 16 silver handled knives.

Condition

Excellent polished condition with crisp decoration. Full and equal length fork tines and unworn spoon bowls.

Presentation

This canteen is offered within new anti-tarnish navy blue cutlery rolls. Each roll can hold up to 12 pieces, so there are spare pockets for extra pieces should the need arise.
