Table Spoon - Old English pattern; Bright-cut engraved - Jersey circa 1836 by Jacques Quesnel - 21cm long; 42g - JA/7460

This is an attractively decorated silver table spoon from Jersey in fabulous condition.

The spoon is engraved in typical Channel Islands style and is helpfully dated to the terminal below the betrothal initials of the original owners. Jacques Quesnel was the name of prominent Jersey father and son silversmiths between 1781 and 1843 and so the date of 1836 will pertain to the younger of the two. The reverse side of the stem is clearly stamped with the "JQ" maker's mark.

The engraving is nicely done and remains crisp, plus the bowl retains its thick bowl tip. All in all, a pleasing silver table spoon.
