This is an outstanding quality Irish silver sugar basin with an incredible weight. It is superbly made and has two expertly modelled tendril handles. The beautiful engraving around the octagonal body remains very crisp and the presence of the engraved crest to one cartouche and the gilt (gold-wash) interior are indicative of the high quality. Made by the most important Irish silversmith of the period, this is a truly fabulous piece.
