Irish Silver Sweet Basket, Dublin 1791

This is a very elegant Irish silver basket dating from the late 18th century. The boat shaped basket stands on a pedestal foot and has a swing handle with bead decoration. The main body is adorned with beautiful bright-cut engraving in the form of drapery and has initials to one side and a crest to the other.

This Irish sweetmeat or sugar basket is in superb original condition with neither damage nor repair, a further benefit is the clear set of hallmarks to the underside including the makers mark which is struck twice.
