Sold
Sauceboat - Tripod; wavy edge - 163mm long, 95mm high, 181 grams weight - Cork circa 1780 by John Hillery - Ref. No.: KL/1860
This is a fine and rare example of an Irish provincial silver sauceboat. This sauceboat stands on three hoot feet in typical Irish style and has a scroll handle and cut-card wavy edge. It bears an engraved crest to one side and a beautifully engraved set of initials in Gothic script with additional flourishes to the other.
This sauce boat has a good solid feel in the hand and is in fine condition. The marks are located to the underside with two "IH" makers marks set either side to the STERLING stamp and engraved initials "C*D" adjacent.
