Irish Silver "Rustic Scenes" Bowl, 1978
£275.00
Bowl - Dublin 1978 by Alwright & Marshall Ltd. - 12.5cm diameter; 6.5cm high; 223g - ST/6450
This is a fabulous quality Irish silver bowl in the 18th century style.
Chased with animals and standing on three lion's mask legs, this bowl is a faithful replica of the charming "rustic" Irish bowls of the second half of the 18th century. It is however superior in quality to the earlier light-weight examples as this bowl has a good hefty weight of 7.2 tr.oz and a lovely feeling in the hand. To one side it features a swan amongst reeds, to another with a fox and the third has a vacant cartouche within scrolls and surrounded by foliage.
Made by the top quality Dublin silversmiths Alwright and Marshall, this excellent silver bowl remains in first class, polished condition and has probably never been used.
