Salver - Pie crust border - Cork circa 1770 by Daniel McCarthy - 20cm diameter; 380g - LS/6490

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a great example of a rare Irish provincial silver salver. This 8" salver has a pie crust border and stands on three hoof feet. To the centre of the top there is an engraved cipher surmounted by two coronets of a Viscount, suggesting an aristocratic provenance.

The salver is in great condition with just a shallow crease towards the edge of the central field. The "STERLING" mark to the underside is clear and although the maker's mark is less clear, it appears to be the rare "DMC" mark for Daniel McCarthy who was working between 1777 and 1782.
