Sold
Caddy Spoon - Old English - Cork circa 1790 by John Warner - 8.8cm long; 13g - PV/3693
Irish provincial silver caddy spoon are very rare beasts! This is a fine late 18th century example that was made in Cork by John Warner.
Clearly struck with a "STERLING" mark that typifies Irish provincial silver and the "IW" maker's mark within a serrated rectangular surround, this Cork-made silver caddy spoon benefits from having better marks than most. It is plain in form with an Old English style handle and is free from any personalised engravings. Although light in weight, this rare spoon is in fine condition.
