Irish Hip Flask, Dublin 1887

Hip Flask - Plain with Removable Cover - Dublin 1887 by Edmund Johnson - 16.5cm high; 5.7cm wide; 203g - MD/8158
This is a wonderful quality and very rare example of an Irish silver hip flask. It has a very elegant, elongated form with a removable drinking cup that retains its original gilding to the interior. The cup is engraved with a crest to one side and a monogram to the other. The flask is secured at the top with a corked, domed cover with bayonet fitting.
This spirit flask is presented within a good quality wooden box, which is quite modern, but does the job nicely.
