Meat Skewer - Ring Terminal - London 1784 by Hester Bateman - 35.2cm long; 108g - HS/7696a

At just under 14" in length, this is an impressive George III silver meat skewer with the bonus of a very clear set of London hallmarks that includes the sought after maker's mark of Hester Bateman.

The skewer is ideal for presenting a large meat joint at the table and has a ring terminal to ease the performance. It has a good, chunky feel and is in excellent condition with an original engraved crest.

Hester Bateman was an important lady silversmith of the latter part of the 18th century at a time when women were rarely involved in business matters. She is rightly known by the label "Queen of English Silversmiths".
