97-piece Glamis Pattern Silver Canteen of Cutlery,

Sheffield 1958 by Cooper Brothers & Sons

The Service

We are pleased to be offering the opportunity to own a boxed silver cutlery set in the very stylish Glamis Pattern.  This Art Deco service provides for eleven pieces per 8 place settings with an assortment of serving and carving pieces.

Glamis Pattern has a lovely elegant shape with Art Deco streamlining and is a scarce but desirable flatware pattern.

All the pieces in this canteen were made by Cooper Brothers & Sons of Sheffield and bear appropriate Sterling silver hallmarks for Sheffield 1958. The knives have silver handles and are engraved “Cooper Bros & Sons Sheffield England” to the stainless steel blades and the service is contained within its original wooden box.

The service has a good range of both dining and serving pieces. The soup spoons are in the traditional table spoon form with oval bowl and the pastry/cake forks are a welcome later addition and give greater flexibility. The 11” long serving spoons are huge with a long reach and make an impressive sight. The presence of the carvers add a further touch of class.

The box has been laid out for 8 place settings, but for some reason there is provision for 12 fish knives and forks. Therefore four of these spaces have not been filled, but it has allowed the addition of the eight pastry forks and a pastry serving fork and trowel that are contained in a blue felt roll. These extra pieces are hallmarked from the 1960’s.

This is a high quality and very stylish canteen of nicely presented dining silver.
