Georgian Straining Spoon, 1796

Straining Spoon - Old English Thread - London 1796 by Solomon Hougham - 31cm long; 135g - KN/9191
Silver straining spoons are scarce, long-handled serving spoons and this example is the sought after version with the pierced half-bowl cover. Made in the thread edge variant of the Old English pattern, this handsome spoon bears an original script engraved monogram to the front terminal. It dates from the latter years of the 18th century, but still remains in fabulous condition and has clear hallmarks for the specialist spoonmaker, Solomon Hougham.
