Georgian Silver Dish, 1755 with Armorial by Cripps
Sold
Dish - Circular with Scroll Edge - London 1755 by William Cripps - 13.5cm diameter; 155g - SO/2840
This is a beautiful Georgian silver dish engraved with a superb coat-of-arms to the centre and an attractive scroll border.
This shallow dish has a good hefty feel in the hand and was made by the top maker William Cripps during the George II period. Although fully hallmarked to the underside, it was once potentially part of a large epergne or suite of dishes, but these days would be ideal for serving sweets and snacks or for use on a desk or dressing table. It remains in excellent condition.
