Basting Spoon - Old English Pattern - London 1784 by Hester Bateman - 30cm long; 98g - KV/6019

At 12" in length, this is a long, elegant silver basting or stuffing spoon from the George III period with the added bonus of very clear London hallmarks for Hester Bateman.

This serving spoon is in Old English pattern with the benefit of no personalised engravings nor erasures and an unworn bowl with original rim and tip. The hallmarks are superb! They include an excellent "HB" in script maker's mark for the Queen of English Silversmiths and a clear example of the scarce incuse duty mark (in use December 1784 to May 1786).

The spoon is in overall fine condition with a lovely antique patina.
