Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare long-handled silver salt spoon from the workshop of Peter & Jonathan Bateman.

Peter & Jonathan Bateman were brothers who took over the running of Hester Bateman's workshop following her retirement in 1790. Sadly, Joanthan Bateman passed away within the next six months meaning that the PB/IB maker's mark was only used for a short period of time and thus making it a very rare piece for collectors to find. As with this salt spoon, the mark will only ever be found in combination with the London date letter "p". The hallmarks on this piece are cleanly struck and remain clearly visible.

The salt spoon has a long, curved Old English pattern handle with a deep, ladle-shaped bowl.It is engraved with "E.G" initials to the handle terminal and remains in fine condition.
