Caddy Spoon - Bright-cut Handle with Scallop-shaped Bowl - London 1796 by Peter & Ann Bateman - 7.8cm long - FE/2972b

This is a fine antique silver caddy spoon of the classic design emanating from the Bateman family workshop.

Made by Peter & Ann Bateman in 1796, this spoon has the flared scallop-shaped bowl and a beautifully bright-cut engraved handle that has become the trade mark of Hester Bateman and her family. The bright-cutting makes each spoon unique and this example has a tear-drop shaped cartouche to the terminal that remains free from any personalised engravings. The spoon is in excellent condition with a clear set of London hallmarks.
