Trowel - Wooden Handle & Pierced Blade - London 1759 by William Tuite - 33.5cm long; 130g - JP/3630

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Large mid-18th century trowels such as this are variously described as being for puddings or fish and in truth they are suitably equipped for both. This is a particularly fine example with a superbly pierced flat blade that also bears a discreet engraved crest to one edge. The original wooden handle remains and is in fine condition. This form of trowel is prone to damage and repair and the majority of extant examples are in second-rate condition, however this example has suffered no such issue and is in lovely condition throughout.
