10 1/2" Marrow Spoon, 1736

This is a massive silver double ended marrow spoon which at 10.5" long is much larger than a standard table spoon sized marrow spoon and just shy of a basting spoon. This George II period marrow spoon has a spoon bowl to one end and a scoop to the other. To the reverse of the bowl is a typical rudimentary shell motif in typical 1740's style - this is a very early example of a fancy back spoon. The maker was Edward Bennett, a specialist spoonmaker who's "EB" mark displays a crown surmount. This rare piece is in excellent condition throughout.
