Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A very rare example of a Georgian silver pounce pot. These were used as part of 18th century desk equipage and were used to sprinkle pounce (finely powdered cuttlefish bone) on ink to help it dry and to prepare rough paper for writing. They are most frequently found with Georgian Standish (inkstands) and are rarely found as stand alone pieces. This is a particularly fine example that has a side handle and beautifully pierced pull-off cover. It is in excellent original condition with a clear set of hallmarks to the underside - a great piece of Georgian silver.
