Lemon Strainer - 2-handled - London 1765 - 20cm wide (10cm diameter); 103g - BV/2344

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Lemon strainers were used for adding fruit juice, oranges and limes as well as lemons, to punch and other cocktails. This example has two handles so that it can sit comfortably on top of a goblet and is beautifully pierced to allow the juices to flow, but the pips to remain. The condition is excellent and the side of the strainer bears an original script engraved monogram. The hallmarks are located to the centre of the bowl and as is commonplace they have been partly pierced out so that the maker's mark cannot be read. The two handles are appropriately part-marked with a lion passant. This is a good quality piece of Georgian silver.
