Georgian Invalid Feeding Straw, 1813

Invalid Feeding Syphon - S-Shaped, Crested - London 1813, John Houle (possibly) - 11.2cm long; 18g - JC/1858
This is a very rare piece of Georgian medical related silver. It is an "S"-shaped feeding straw or siphon used by the elderly and infirm and this example was obviously from a wealthy family as they had their crest engraved upon it. The appropriate hallmarks for small-ware of the period are located to the hanging hook. It is in excellent condition.
