Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This George III silver basket is a stunner and has the bonus of bearing Hester Bateman hallmarks.

The basket is navette-shaped with reeded mounts, stands on a pedestal foot and has a swing handle for carrying. The interior retains its original lemon-coloured mercury gilding, whilst the outside is engraved with an oval, swag mounted cartouche to both sides - both are also free from any personalised engravings (and no erasures too). The London hallmarks are clearly stamped to the underside of the foot with an excellent example of the iconic "HB" in script maker's mark of the Queen of English Silversmiths, Hester Bateman.

The whole piece is in fantastic condition and has clearly been well-looked after for the past 240 years. A great piece of Hester Bateman silver!
