George III Silver Drum Mustard Pot, 1783
£395.00
Mustard Pot - Drum shaped; Pierced; Blue Glass Liner - London 1783 by John Wall - 8.2cm high x 8.8cm wide; 101g silver (191g gross weight) - FP/6312
This is a fine example of a George III period, drum-shaped, silver mustard pot with pierced decoration.
The mustard pot has a flat hinged cover with thumb-lift finial and an expertly pierced body that shows off the blue colour of the internal liner to best effect. There is a cartouche within the piercing to the front that benefits from having neither engravings nor erasures. The blue glass liner is a snug-fit, appears original and is in fine condition with neither chips nor cracks.
The full set of London hallmarks are located to the underside of the base with appropriate part-hallmarks to the cover. This is an excellent example of an early mustard pot with the major bonus of still being in first class condition.
