Lemon Strainer - 2-handled - London 1716 by Thomas Kedden - 16.7cm wide (8cm diameter); 76g - GR/7959

What a wonderful example of a George I silver lemon strainer!

This silver strainer was used to strain oranges and lemons in to punch and has two wide handles for suspending it over a goblet or bowl. The handles are expertly pierced and bear small, original "M*C" owners initials. The bowl is beautiully drill-pierced in the form of a six-petalled flower.

A further bonus is the good set of Britannia standard silver hallmarks to the centre of the interior. Representing the purer form of the metal, these marks include the date letter for 1716 and the "KE" maker's mark of Thomas Kedden, a noted specialist maker of lemon strainers. It is further stamped with a lion's head erased mark under each handle.

This fine quality silver punch strainer remains in first class condition throughout.
