Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a stunning arts & crafts silver tea strainer by the lady silversmith Florence Stern.

Made during the Edwardian period, this strainer is beautifully designed and has a turquoise set to the handle. It is in fine condition and bears Birmingham hallmarks to the underside that includes the rarely encountered F.S maker's mark in a lozenge to the underside.

Florence Sarah Stern studied at the Birmingham School of Art and entered her mark at the Birmingham Assay Office in 1902. She was active with thje Society of Women's Artists and regularly exhibited with them. The bulk of her output was jewellery and so this tea strainer is a departure from her usual work.
