Exeter Bright-cut Engraved Silver Table Spoon, 1798
Sold
Table Spoon - Old English pattern with Bright-cut engraving - Exeter 1798 by Richard Jenkins - 21.8cm long; 57g - RF/1516c
This is a first-class example of a bright-cut engraved silver table spoon dating from the late 18th century and originating in the west country.
This Exeter-marked spoon was made by one of the city's most prolific makers, Richard Jenkins. The spoon has a beautifully, intricate pattern of bright-cut engraving with a blank cartouche to the terminal - neither personal engravings nor erasures. The condition is fabulous with crisp decoration, an unworn bowl and clear set of Exeter hallmarks.
