Engraved Antique Silver Card Case, 1843

This is a beautiful antique silver card case with all over engraved decoration.

The decoration consists of festoons of floral scrolls on a clever, matted background - even the sides of the box are engraved. The central cartouche to the front of the box is engraved with a script monogram and a bull rampant crest. Opening the hinged cover reveals a full set of Birmingham hallmarks for the maker Joseph Willmore.

This early Victorian card case remains in excellent conditon throughout with crisp engraved decoration. A beautiful piece!
