Table Spoon - Hanoverian Rattail - London 1709 by Isaac Davenport - 20cm long; 75g - AP/4202

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a great example of a very early rattail silver table spoon.

Most Hanoverian rattail spoons date from the reign of George I, however this one pre-dates the main run and was made during the reign of Queen Anne.Made by one of the best and most prolific specialist spoonmakers Isaac Davenport, this spoon would have been at the forefront of fashion. It is engraved to the reverse terminal with a griffin (half lion, half eagle).

The spoon is made from the purer Britannia standard silver and has a good set of hallmarks with legible date letter and DA maker's mark. It is in excellent condition with fine, antique patina.
