Cricketer Silver Vesta Case, 1892

This is a lovely silver and enamel vesta case depicting a cricketing scene.

Made by Joseph Gloster during the late Victorian period, this silver match safe depicts a batsman in the midst of his swing with a rural scene to the background. The frame and reverse side of the box are engraved with floral scrolls, whilst the latter is also centred by an original script engraved monogram. This lovely vesta case remains in fine condition with the striker to underside in working order and the hinged cover still retaining its snap-shut mechanism.
