Cork Serving Spoon, c1780

This 10" long serving spoon is an elegant example of a piece of 18th century Irish provincial silver . The spoon has a Celtic Point handle with an unusual design of engraving to the front terminal: a navette-shaped cartouche with matt background and block engraved script initials, together with a letter "A" surmount. This spoon is in fine condition with good clear "STERLING" and "IN" maker's mark for John Nicholson (Nicolson).
