Cased Pair of Silver Albany Pattern Grape Scissors, 1882
Sold
Grape Scissors (cased) - Albany pattern - London 1882 by Francis Higgins - 19.5cm long; 112g; (case = 22cm long) - RS/6478a
This is a fine quality pair of Victorian Albany pattern silver grape scissors made by the renown silversmith Francis Higgins.
These grape scissors have the major bonus of being presented in their original case that has the name of the original retailers to the silk lining: "John Cockburn, Goldsmith & Jeweller, 28 George St, Richmond".
Made during the late-Victorian period, these good-looking grape shears have elegantly decorated handles in the popular Albany pattern and a lovely solid weight and feeling of quality. They are hallmarked to the inside of the blades and both scissors and case are in excellent condition.
Intended for delicately trimming the stalks of individual grapes (not as secateurs!), these grape scissors are perfect for post-dinner accompaniments to the fruit basket and cheese board.
