NS&Co Caddy Spoon, Sheffield 1796

Caddy Spoon - Bead Handle with fluted bowl - Sheffield 1796 by Nathaniel Smith & Co. - 8.9cm long; 15g - ES/9948
This excellent late 18th century silver caddy spoon benefits from having a good, solid weight and a legible set of early Sheffield hallmarks. The spoon is decorated to the Old English handle with a fine bead border and an original engraved monogram. The fluted bowl has a bold shell heel to the reverse and the hallmarks are spread to either side of this feature. Eighteenth century Sheffield-made silver tea caddy spoons are relatively scarce and this is a fine example in great condition.
