Caddy Spoon, 1824

Caddy Spoon - Hourglass pattern - Birmingham 1824 by Joseph Taylor - 9.7cm long; 14g - BD/1163
Joseph' Taylor's silver workshop was probably the most prolific and versatile of all silver caddy spoon makers and this example is particularly handsome. It has a King's Hourglass patterned handle with the hallmarks unusually stamped to the front attached to an intricately modelled shell-shape bowl with a slightly crude, but original solder joint. There are no personalised engravings and the decoration remains crisp - an excellent late Georgian period caddy spoon.
