Caddy Spoon - Round shell bowl and flat axe-head handle - London circa 1775 by Robert Hennell - 6.5cm long - UH/4262

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A very handsome caddy spoon dating from the earliest period of caddy spoon production. This spoon has an axe head shaped handle with bright-cut engraved border and contemporary to manufacture script initials. It has a near-round fluted bowl and remains in excellent condition. The reverse side of the handle is marked twice signifying that this spoon pre-dates the introduction of the duty mark in 1784 and the addition of a date letter to small spoons in 1781. A lovely all round spoon.
