Gold Knee Buckle, 1780

Gold Knee Buckle - London circa 1780 by IK - 32mm x 28mm; 9.9g - Ref. No.: KJ/1658
A rare example of a Georgian 22ct gold knee buckle. This buckle retains its original steel chape and its small size combined with an anchor point on the chape identifies it as a knee rather than a shoe buckle. It has a simple reeded design and is in good order throughout. It has two clear hallmarks which includes the lion passant (used on 22ct gold as well as silver until 1843) and the makers mark IK with star surmount.
