Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A beautiful Neo-Classical silver tea caddy in wonderful condition. This is a stunning Georgian tea caddy with octagonal, navette-shaped form and an elegant band of bright-cut engraving around the top and bottom. The domed, hinged cover has a fantastic secret hinge hidden amongst the engraving to the top. The original lock, fitted to protect the valuable tea from light-fingered servants, is still in place and although there is no key, the caddy can be freely open and closed. The front of the caddy is superbly engraved with an eagle's head and the condition throughout is excellent. The full set of hallmarks are located to the underside, and although the maker's mark has been partly mis-struck it can be seen to be the mark of John Denziloe a fine specialist in this type of tea caddy.
