Boxed 96 piece Du Barry Pattern Canteen

The Service

This is an excellent 96 piece straight canteen of silver in a stylish 20^th Century Pattern. The service provides for seven pieces for each of the 12 place settings with additional serving items.

All the pieces were made in Sheffield. The silver bear hallmarks for Sheffield 1943 and 1944. The knives have faux bone handles and stainless steel blades with the proud brand name “Rusnorstain”.

The service benefits from being in excellent polished condition with no personalised engravings to the pieces.

Du Barry Pattern

This pattern was first produced in the early 20^th century for use in the first class dining rooms aboard the Titanic. Its inspiration comes from the designs of the most important furniture maker of the 18^th century – Thomas Chippendale. It has a simple elegance that successfully treads the line between stylish and plain. it is also sometimes known as Dubarry.

Excellent polished condition.

Presentation

This canteen is offered in its original oak wood box. The box has a lift up lid with knives inserted inside and two pullout drawers with brass handles. The drawers are retained in place by a hinged gate leg to either side. The box also has two brass carrying handles. There is no key, but if required this should prove a straight forward job for any local locksmith.
