An extremely rare and possibly unique Aurquebusade silver bottle label. This is a particularly large label in the popular cut-cornered rectangular form. it is in excellent condition with some traces of original gilding to the top of the reverse side and within the links of the chain.
"Arquebusade: according to some sources a distilled water from a variety of aromatic plants like rosemary, millefoil, etc - sometimes a vulnerary for gunshot wounds" - taken from the catalogue description for this label when it was sold at Woolley & Wallis in April 2006 for the hammer price of £900 (approx. £1080 with buyer's premium). The date of the label would suggest the contents were used during the Napoleonic Wars.
