Cake Basket - Arts &amp; Crafts Celtic Knot - Birmingham 1937 by Charles Horner - 27.5cm long; 19.5cm high with handle; 509g - LC/4784</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This beautiful silver basket could be used for displaying cakes, bread or fruit and is a wonderful portrayal of the Arts & Crafts movement. The basket has a swing handle and stands on a skirt foot, but it is the attractive swirl chasing in a Celtic knot that catches the eye. The piece was hand-made and the original planishing mark have been left in the Arts & Crafts tradition. The condition is excellent throughout.

This basket is a rare piece of hollowware made by the highly renown Halifax silversmith Charles Horner who is better known for his hat pins, thimbles and jewellery. This basket was probably a special commission and is part of a small collection of similar Charles Horner silver hollowware that we are currently selling.
