Teapot - Armorial - London 1828 by Charles Fox - 29cm wide; 11.5cm high; 1200ml volume; 770g - CQ/2642
This is a superb quality Georgian silver teapot made by the important maker Charles Fox.
The teapot has a lovely segmented circular form with flower bud finial to the hinged cover. This teapot exudes the best quality and has a hefty weight of 25 tr.oz. The floral tendril to the top of the handle improves grip for the user and is an extra added attention to detail.
Further signs of high quality can be seen with the engraved coat-of-arms to one side and a crest to the other. These are the armorial bearings of the Scudamore family and the motto "Scuto Amoris Divini" (translates to "by the shield of God's Love") is presumed to be a play on the family name (Scud-amore). The crest features a bear's paw out of a ducal coronet.
The teapot has heat insulators to the handle, has a clean interior and pours beautifully - a really top calibre antique teapot in stunning condition.
