Shell-back Silver Marrow Spoon, 1765

Sold
Marrow Scoop - Shell-back - London 1765 by Andrew Hogg - 22.4cm long; 54g - CA/7112
The maker's mark on this fine quality marrow scoop is "AH" for the scarcely encountered silversmith Andrew Hogg. This bone marrow fat eating implement combines the typical narrow scoop to one end with a standard spoon bowl to the other. The reverse side of the spoon bowl is stamped with a nicely detailed shell motif and the bowl tip retains a thick leading edge.
A fine Georgian silver marrow spoon in excellent condition.
