Cream Jug - Inverted Cone-shape - Birmingham 1905 by A E Jones - 8.1cm high; 11cm wide; 95g - UG/2874
Albert Edward Jones made some beautiful pieces of arts & crafts silver and this attractive cream jug exemplifies his work.
Made during the Edwardian period this early piece of AE Jones' work has been influenced by the Art Nouveau movement as can be seen with the applied four petal floral motif to both sides of the body, the chased wavy line to the spreading foot and the sinuous bifurcated handle. The whole piece has a spot-hammered (planished) appearance and has a lovely feel in the hand.
This silver cream jug remains in excellent condition with a good set of hallmarks including a clear AEJ maker's mark.
