96 piece Canteen - Chippendale Pattern (8 place settings) - Hallmark: Sheffield 1967-72 by Walker & Hall - Weight: 3940 grams (126.7 troy ounces) + 24 knives - Ref. No.: PU/5962
The Service
This is fabulous 12-piece straight canteen of silver in a stylish 20th Century Pattern. The service provides for eight pieces per 12 place settings.
All the pieces were hallmarked in Sheffield between 1967 & 1972 by Walker & Hall and are contained in a wooden box with a Harrods label.
The dessert and dinner knives have silver handles and stainless steel blades. They sit inside the lid in two rows. The fish eaters are of the superior quality type where they are made from one piece of silver (rather than the type with hollow handles) and these sit on the top shelf. The other spoons and forks are stacked in slots in the pull-out drawer.
The service benefits from having no personalised engravings to the pieces and is fabulous polished condition.
Chippendale Pattern
This pattern was named in honour of the famous English cabinet maker Thomas Chippendale. The edges of each piece have a wavy raised line, which are reminiscent of the moldings to be found on much of his furniture.
